VT Garment Co. reduces lead times and WIP levels through FastReactPlan

The outerwear and casual wear manufacturer, chose FastReactPlan to remain competitive in an increasingly competitive global market

VT Garment exports to Europe, USA and Japan, serving customers such as Nike, Puma, Columbia, Abercrombie & Fitch, Ansons, Decathlon, Peek & Cloppenburg, Kaufhof, Metro and many others.

Founded in 1981, with a mere 100 sewing machines, the company has grown to incorporate two other affiliated companies in Thailand; Siam Casualwear Co Ltd and VT Industries Co Ltd, and now employ 3500 staff in total.

VT implemented FastReact Enterprise in 2003, and later upgraded to the latest FastReact Enterprise Plus version (now known as FastReactPlan).

The solution

Khun Orasri Lotharukpong, Deputy Managing Director, comments on VT Garment’s experience with FastReactPlan, “We selected FastReact as it met all our requirements for a powerful planning tool, providing a garment industry-specific solution that addressed and integrated the key planning areas of factory capacity and critical path not covered by our ERP business system.”

“Providing we put in the accurate parameters and do not ‘kid’ ourselves we can see our ‘real’ capacity, and in this way, FastReactPlan has brought clarity to our business. To date, this has enabled us to make real improvements in On-Time Delivery and reductions in air freight. The training given by Fast React Asia (now Coats Digital) was good but we still feel we are underutilising FastReactPlan’s full capability and that there is a lot more FastReactPlan can do for us.”

“We are currently focusing on more decision making and financially related reports and using FastReactPlan as a tool to help us reduce lead times and WIP levels. I would have no hesitation to recommend FastReactPlan to other factories. If used correctly, they should get a return on investment within 12 months.”

The conclusion

Simon Gibson, Managing Director of Fast React Asia (now Coats Digital), comments, “We are delighted with the success story at VT Garment. Both the FastReactPlan product range and our training and support staff, are focused on the fashion industry so we are able to provide ongoing development of new product features, along with the relevant training and support of customers’ staff.”

To make the best of the system, customers should embrace the system as part of a continuous improvement process, as VT Garment has done. That way, FastReactPlan will continue to add value long after the initial investment and help businesses remain competitive in an increasingly competitive global market.
